Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.3+ Recommended Patch Collection 3 (RPC3)

Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.3+ Recommended Patch Collection 3 (RPC3) combines recommended patches that were released after Release 12.1.3 into a single, integrated and regression-tested patch to ensure successful installation.

Applying this RPC is recommended, even if you are using only a subset of Oracle E-Business Suite products. The patching utility ‘adpatch’ takes care of the files to be applied and generates them based on the product installation status.

Using Transportable Tablespaces to Migrate Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.0 or 12.1 Using Oracle Database 12c Release 1 Enterprise Edition

This page describes the process of migrating an existing Oracle Applications Release 12.0 or 12.1 database instance using the Cross Platform Transportable Tablespaces (XTTS) feature of Oracle Database 12c Release 1.

Transportable Tablespaces is a feature that provides a faster means to move bulk data from one database to another, independent of the operating system of the source and target. This cross-platform support of this feature provides improved functionality in distributing data and database migration specifically across platforms of different endian (byte-ordering) formats. For details on this feature, please refer to the section ‘Transporting Tablespaces Between Databases’ in Chapter 15 (‘Transporting Data’) of the Oracle Database Administrator’s Guide, 12c Release 1 (12.1).

Known Issues and Limitations of XTTS

  1. Built-in Limitations
Built-in limitations are documented in the Oracle Database Administrator’s Guide, 12c Release 1 (12.1). One important limitation outlined in this document that is relevant for EBS is that the source and target databases must have the same character set and national character set.
  2. Column Encryption Using TDE
Transportable Tablespaces migration is not supported for tables that have columns encrypted using the Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) functionality of Oracle Database 12c (see My Oracle Support Document 732764.1). Tables that have encrypted columns must be de-crypted prior to following the transportable tablespaces migration and then encrypted in the target database after migration.
  3. Mixing RDBMS and EBS Schemas in the same Tablespace
The use of RDBMS and EBS Schemas in the same tablespace is not supported as tablespaces with RDBMS schemas are disregarded in the creation of the transportable set. It is recommended that RDBMS schemas (such as CTXSYS) be in separate tablespaces (for example, SYSAUX).
  4. Cross Platform Incremental Backup
Cross Platform Incremental Backup is only certified to work with RDBMS 12.1.0 source.
  5. Full Transportable Export/Import
Full Transportable Export/Import is only certified to work with RDBMS 12.1.0 source.

The Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.3 (64 bit) virtual appliances contain a complete Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.3 Installation. The Oracle E-Business Suite system is installed on top of Oracle Linux Version 6 update 5. These virtual appliances contain all the required elements to configure an Oracle E-Business Suite system for a broad range of uses, including production, demonstration and test. A key advantage is that users can quickly familiarize themselves with Oracle E-Business Suite, bypassing a custom operating system installation as well as the software install (via the Rapid Install.)

The Oracle E-Business Suite VM virtual appliances for 12.2.3 are as follows.

For the Vision demo database install, you will need the following four component packages:

V43675-01 Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.3 Vision Demo Database Tier Install X86 (64 bit) (Part 1 of 4) Linux x86-64
V43676-01 Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.3 Vision Demo Database Tier Install X86 (64 bit) (Part 2 of 4) Linux x86-64
V43677-01 Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.3 Vision Demo Database Tier Install X86 (64 bit) (Part 3 of 4) Linux x86-64
V43678-01 Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.3 Vision Demo Database Tier Install X86 (64 bit) (Part 4 of 4) Linux x86-64

For the Production database install, you will need the following three component packages:

V43672-01 Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.3 Production Database Tier Install X86 (64 bit) (Part 1 of 3) Linux x86-64
V43673-01 Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.3 Production Database Tier Install X86 (64 bit) (Part 2 of 3) Linux x86-64
V43674-01 Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.3 Production Database Tier Install X86 (64 bit) (Part 3 of 3) Linux x86-64

For the application tier install, you will need the following four component packages:

V43692-01 Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.3 Application Tier Install X86 (64 bit) (Part 1 of 4) Linux x86-64
V43693-01 Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.3 Application Tier Install X86 (64 bit) (Part 2 of 4) Linux x86-64
V43694-01 Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.3 Application Tier Install X86 (64 bit) (Part 3 of 4) Linux x86-64
V43695-01 Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.3 Application Tier Install X86 (64 bit) (Part 4 of 4) Linux x86-64

For the single node Vision appliance (which is a standalone appliance which contains the Vision database as well as the application tier), you will need the following eight component packages:

V43683-01 Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.3 Single Node Vision Install X86 (64 bit) (Part 1 of 8) Linux x86-64
V43684-01 Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.3 Single Node Vision Install X86 (64 bit) (Part 2 of 8) Linux x86-64
V43685-01 Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.3 Single Node Vision Install X86 (64 bit) (Part 3 of 8) Linux x86-64
V43686-01 Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.3 Single Node Vision Install X86 (64 bit) (Part 4 of 8) Linux x86-64
V43687-01 Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.3 Single Node Vision Install X86 (64 bit) (Part 5 of 8) Linux x86-64
V43688-01 Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.3 Single Node Vision Install X86 (64 bit) (Part 6 of 8) Linux x86-64
V43689-01 Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.3 Single Node Vision Install X86 (64 bit) (Part 7 of 8) Linux x86-64
V43690-01 Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.3 Single Node Vision Install X86 (64 bit) (Part 8 of 8) Linux x86-64

For the sparse application tier/OS install, you will need the following component package:

V43691-01 Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.3 Sparse Tier/OS Install X86 (64 bit) Linux x86-64
